Food & Beverage Training for Hospitality Careers

Passionate about hospitality and great service? CALV’s Food & Beverage Programs prepare you with hands-on skills, industry insights, and a certificate recognized by top employers—giving you a head start in the fast-paced world of food and beverage service.

Program Highlights

Start Dates: Monthly start dates available
Campus: Las Vegas
Certificate Value: Equivalent to one year of industry experience with participating partners
Financial Aid: Available for eligible students (including Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 members)

Food and Beverage Program Offerings

Length: 46 hours (2 weeks)
Description: Learn table service support, customer service, dining room sanitation, and SNHD regulations. Includes applied learning at Westside Bistro and approved partner locations.
Requirements Minimum age 17, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $1,200 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 90 hours (4 weeks)
Description: Covers service etiquette, suggestive selling, POS systems, food and wine service, cash handling, and guest engagement. Includes applied learning in restaurant and catering environments.
Requirements: Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, Alcohol Awareness card, six months bus person experience (waived with CALV Bus Person completion), ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $1,500 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length 60 hours (2 weeks)
Description  Learn POS operation, cash handling, customer service, food safety, and quick-service operations. Includes applied learning at 710 Coffee Bar, 500 Grand Cafe, and partner locations.
Requirements Minimum age 17, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost $1,200 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 90 hours (3 weeks)
Description: Covers coffee and espresso preparation, POS systems, food safety, customer service, and beverage operations. Includes applied learning at CALV coffee and café locations.
Requirements: Minimum age 17, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $1,500 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 15 hours (1 week)
Description: Learn bar sanitation, equipment handling, chemical safety, alcohol laws, and bar setup and breakdown procedures.
Requirements: Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, Alcohol Awareness card, ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $750 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 45 hours (3 weeks)
Description: Builds on Bar Porter skills with advanced beverage knowledge, drink preparation, cash handling, and customer service.
Requirements: Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, Alcohol Awareness card, six months relevant experience (waived with CALV Bar Porter completion), ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $975 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 15 hours (3 weeks)
Description: Introduction to wine knowledge, service techniques, tasting basics, and food pairing. Serves as prerequisite for Advanced Wine Server.
Requirements: Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, Alcohol Awareness card, ability to communicate effectively in English
Cost: $1,200 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 30 hours (4 weeks)
Description: Advanced wine education covering winemaking, wine regions, tasting, and preparation for sommelier certification programs.
Requirements: Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license or state ID, Social Security card, Food Handler Safety Training card, Alcohol Awareness card, completion of CALV Introduction to Wine Server, ability to communicate effectively in English
