LAS VEGAS – March 11, 2016 – The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas is excited to invite the community out to its Spring OPEN HOUSE which will take place on Wednesday March 30, 2016 from 11:00am – 3:00pm. Attendees can enter to win a Culinary Arts Catering Experience for 10 guests.

“We are one of Southern Nevada’s best kept secrets and we want that to change.” Says CEO Chris Fava. “The Academy is dedicated to its vision of reducing poverty and eliminating unemployment by providing employability and vocational skills to youth, adults, and displaced workers. We are proud of our commitment to the community we serve, and want the community members to come visit us!”

Guests attending the Spring Open House will receive a complete behind the scenes tour of the facility. The tour will include our production kitchen, demonstration/teaching kitchen, five fully furnished replica strip hotel rooms, and 400 seat banquet and events center. While guests are here, they are invited to enjoy a free lunch inside our 50- seat bistro-style teaching restaurant, the Westside Bistro. “So many people are amazed at how large our facility is, how many different programs we offer and how student lives are changed by attending our classes. We are committed to making a difference in peoples’ lives.” says CEO Chris Fava.

In addition to touring the facility, community guests will have an opportunity to learn about the training provided on the campus and the funding available to obtain a certificate in any of our 12 classifications, as well as observe classrooms, demonstrations, and speak directly with the instructors, management and catering department staff.

In addition to workforce training the Academy prepares and delivers nutritious meals to those in need through its contracted foods and summer food service program, and offers catering and event services through Culinary Arts Catering. “There is nothing better than bringing clients’ vision to life through the fusion of exceptional service and an explosion of flavorful cuisines.” says Catering Sales Manager Sydni Sayles.

The Culinary Academy Las Vegas will also launch its new website during the Spring Open House. The new site will feature smart phone, tablet, optimization, highlight the new Culinary Academy of Las Vegas blog, events calendar, and social media platform interaction.

Workforce Training Partnership Creates Same Day Enrollment For Job Seekers

**Program enrollment and funding scholarships available on-site February 22nd**

LAS VEGASFebruary 22, 2016 – The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV) is pleased to announce its ability to provide same day job training program enrollment with scholarships available. CALV is partnering with Res. Care; a sister Workforce Connections funding agency, to provide a unique one stop location to support job seekers’ enrollment into one of the 12 job classifications provided at the Academy.

“After analyzing our orientation attendance against the enrollment data we noticed that a number of individuals who attended our Orientation on Mondays were not returning to enroll into our training program.” says Ana Puljic Student Services and Outreach Director. With a continuous need for job applicants from our hotel partners there was a need to find a solution to get more job seekers enrolled into training. This partnership with ResCare will allow job seekers the opportunity to attend today’s orientation and immediately following enroll into our job training program.

“This partnership removes the barrier of a job seeker needing to attend orientation in one location then traveling to a different partner agency location to complete the enrollment process.” says Lynn Hoffman, Project Director ResCare Workforce Services/OneStop Career Center.

Job seekers are strongly encouraged attend the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas’ student orientation TODAY at 10am, doors open at 9:30am. The agency partners expect positive results from this hybrid process and look forward to offering this same opportunity on additional dates in March 2016.
